Stepping Up, for Our People
A total of 9.3 million people – roughly a third of the Venezuelan population – are moderately or severely food insecure, meaning they are unable to meet basic dietary needs. Poverty has become the defining characteristic of our beautiful country, today we face a national poverty rate of 96%. In other words, Venezuelan poverty has become ubiquitous.
The children of Venezuela represent our nation’s hope, our future. But the children of Venezuela are not being provided with the resources that they need to overcome the massive challenges that they face.
The Road to Economic Empowerment
To help solve the problem of critical food insecurity for children in Petare, there are organizations which provide free meals to children enrolled in school. The problem is that many children in Petare are forced to forego their education - and their chance at a brighter tomorrow- due to a lack of adequate shoes to protect their feet on the journey to and from school, and therefore are not eligible for access to these critical resources.
